The Challenge
Polish schools have long relied on a patchwork of tools for lesson planning and homework management. Teachers typically juggle paper planners, shared spreadsheets, and informal WhatsApp groups to coordinate schedules, assign homework, and communicate with parents. The result is a fragmented workflow where critical information gets lost between channels and teachers spend hours each week on administrative tasks instead of focusing on instruction.
For school administrators in the Tricity region (Gdansk, Gdynia, Sopot), the challenge was compounded by a lack of affordable, Polish-language tools designed specifically for the local education system. International platforms either lacked support for Polish curricula structures or carried enterprise-level pricing that put them out of reach for public schools operating on tight budgets.
ClassNote's founders saw an opportunity to build a purpose-built platform that would consolidate lesson planning, homework tracking, and parent communication into a single, intuitive application tailored to the realities of Polish education.
Our Solution
Atium designed and built ClassNote from the ground up as a responsive web application with a mobile-first approach, recognizing that most teachers access their planning tools on phones and tablets throughout the school day. The platform centers around a color-coded scheduling system where each subject gets its own visual identity, making it easy to scan a weekly plan at a glance.
The core of the application is an automated schedule generation engine that takes teacher availability, room assignments, and curriculum requirements as inputs and produces conflict-free weekly timetables. Teachers can then fine-tune schedules with drag-and-drop editing, and any changes automatically propagate to student and parent views.
On the backend, Atium built a scalable API layer with PostgreSQL for reliable data persistence and Redis for caching frequently accessed schedules. Push notifications keep students and parents informed about new homework assignments, schedule changes, and upcoming deadlines without requiring them to actively check the app.

Results
Within its first year, ClassNote established itself as a trusted tool among educators in the Tricity region. Teachers reported spending significantly less time on administrative scheduling, freeing up hours each week for lesson preparation and direct student interaction. The platform's intuitive design led to strong adoption rates even among less tech-savvy staff, and positive word-of-mouth between schools drove steady organic growth without significant marketing spend.
